Anjuna is a small village in north Goa, on the shores of the Arabian Sea. It lies 18 km away from Panaji, the capital of Goa.

The Beach

Anjuna Beach is popularly known as the freak capital of the world, for its claimed popularity of Trance Parties and the Hippies who tried to synthesize the spiritual traditions of the East and the art, ideas and the music of the West. The area was discovered by a group of travelers, sometime in the late 1950s to mid-1960s, including Eight Finger Eddie. Since then a small international psychedelic scene began to meet there to party during the dry season. As the calm water of the Arabian sea fondles the Indian shore, Anjuna comes alive with its ever-famous full-moon pungent parties and the Wednesday flea market to take one on to a trance trip.

Albuquerque Mansion

Mascarenhas Mansion

With riches and classic 'balcoes' (balconies) at Anjuna stands the monumental Mascarenhas Mansion. The L-shaped seat along the length of the porch is of expensive wood. It has some of the finest stained glass floral etchings

Wednesday Flea Market

Every Wednesday, at around 11 a.m., Anjuna breaks into a flood of colours. Huge number of tourists vehicles start raising clouds of dust in its surroundings. Whatever one needs, from a used paperback to a haircut, one would find it here. The flea market is a heaven for hardcore shoppers and good bargainers, to bid on wonderful blends of Tibetan, Kashmiri and Gujarati trinkets and handicrafts, European snacks, cassettes of a noisy brand of music called 'Goa Trance', artificial ornaments carvings and T-shirts.

The Acid House Party

Anjuna is also known for its full-moon acid parties. Held for and by young tourists, these parties have attracted thousands of tourists. The trance party with fun & frolic goes all night besides the fire.

Chapora Fort

Chapora Fort lies in the vicinity of the Anjuna. The Fort gives a splendid view of the nearby Anjuna and Vagator beaches. Once, it was a domain of the Muslim rulers before the Portuguese annexed it.

Colva Beach


Colva is a small village in south Goa on the shores of the Arabian Sea. It lies 39 km away from Panaji, capital of the Indian state of Goa.

The Beach

Baga is a small but perfect beach located between its two more famous cousins, Colva on one side and Calangute on the other. It is a far better place to enjoy some restful moments if you don't like the hustle and bustle of Colva or Calangute. It is a fishing beach with international touriststs marinating in the sun and domestic visitors paddling. The fact is that the sand here is neither white nor gold but brown. There is the grove of palms that comes fairly close to the water's edge. The Baga River flows down one side of it offering a pleasant diversion for children and those who love the water but can't risk the rip currents that swirl round the mouth.

Medicinal Springs

The narrow road leading past the Bom Viagem Convent along the cashew-covered foothills, leads to the springs at Mottant. This is an ideal spot for picnics and bathing, as the water of the spring is believed to be medicinal.

Overlooking the village and the Arabian Sea, at the Baga hilltop is the Baga Retreat House dedicated to St Francis Xavier. It was known as the Casa de Retiros.

Crocodile And Dolphin Spotting Tours

Backwater crocodile and dolphin spotting down the Mandovi River to the Zuari River is a favourite pastime for the tourists. The banks of these rivers are thickly forested with mangrove trees. Crocodiles inhabit the wetland in this area. Dolphin can be spotted at the open sea at the mouth of the Mandovi River.

Bogmalo Beach

Goa has an equable climate with little variation in the average minimum and maximum temperatures. During the summer (April to June) the minimum temperature is 26C and the maximum is 34C. The monsoon (July to October) brings temperatures down marginally to 24C and the maximum temperature down to 31C. In winter from November to March the minimum is 21C, while the maximum is 32C.

The Beach

Bogmalo beach is broad, flat and open. It is among the least heavily used beaches. Cluster of small beach shack restaurants and occasional fishing villages, scattered under the coconut palm gives Bogmalo a unique look. Initially Bogmalo beach in Goa was a very quiet fishing village until tourists started pouring in and tourism started infecting this small Indian state of Goa. Unlike other beaches of Goa, Bogmalo beach in Goa is clean and not very crowded. And if you are in urge of swimming, you can definitely do that, as the beach is safe for swimming. After the swim, you can try out those numerous eating joints offering delicious Goan cuisine.
